Denny Hamlin has recently experienced back-to-back Did Not Finish (DNF) results due to mechanical issues, first at Texas Motor Speedway and now at Kansas Speedway. The No. 11 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota suffered engine failure at Texas and a clutch problem at Kansas, forcing Hamlin out of contention in both races. Even though Hamlin managed to nurse his car almost to the end at Kansas, a transaxle failure led to his car stopping in the pit lane and being pushed behind the wall. This unfortunate pit stop meant Hamlin finished 36th in the 38-car field after running in third position. Despite these setbacks, Hamlin’s two wins this season have secured his spot in the playoffs, and before these DNFs, he had an impressive streak of finishing on the lead lap in 21 consecutive races. Moreover, this is the first time since 2013 that Hamlin has faced back-to-back DNFs, with the previous instances being caused by race-ending wrecks at Kentucky and Daytona.
